HP Victus laptops have up-to-date hardware specs

I have been looking and researching laptop technology and found this the Victus, ticking many of the right boxes for my requirements. Could this easily be a mobile equivalent of my 2019 9th gen i7 8core dell desktop, which I got because of the 8core 4.8ghzšŸ˜€.

One morning checking emails from various companies, there was one that stood out due to emoji icons in the subject. And no it was not a virus or scam but surprisingly from HP, the big computer manufacturer.

So I was pleased to see that in the HP offer 10% off sale, a bigger screen, and dedicated graphics chip. With a faster CPU at 4.5ghz compared to 4.2ghz in previous laptops. But more impressively the Intel version has 6 cores, and the AMD Ryzenā„¢ has 8 cores.

Back in the winter sales, I had my eye on an HP pavilion laptop of which I previously owned two before a 7th and 8th gen. Which now comes with 11th gen.

Note: LG Gram have QHD and 4266mhz RAM, but we ended up getting an Acer Nitro 5

Full Specs

  • 16.1ā€³ HD 144 Hz, IPS, anti-glare
  • IntelĀ® Coreā„¢ i5-11400H up to 4.5 GHz 12 MB L3 cache, 6 cores, 12 threads
  • 16 GB DDR4-3200 MHz RAM
  • IntelĀ® Optaneā„¢ Memory 32GB H10 with 512 GB PCIeĀ® NVMeā„¢ M.2 SSD (HBRPEKNX0202AH)
  • NVIDIAĀ® GeForce RTXā„¢ 3050 Ti GPU (4 GB GDDR6 dedicated) (RYZEN has 6 GB GDDR6)

But wait there is more:

  • 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-CĀ® 5Gbps
  • 3 SuperSpeed USB Type-A 5Gbps
  • 1 HDMI 2.1
  • Wi-Fi 6 (2Ɨ2) and BluetoothĀ® 5 combo
  • headphone/microphone combo
  • Speaker Audio by B&O
  • Full-size, backlit keyboard

The downside is it has a battery life of up to 5 hours and 45 minutes. The AMD RYZEN version has 8 hours 45 minutes.

Designed to keep cool during the longest battles. The Victus 16ā€³ has a 5 way air flow and a new open vent design to keep your device running smoothly game after game.
Intel HM570 (Tiger Lake PCH-H)

Reading reviews on H10, PCMAG suggests for ā€œ4K video editing, a cutting-edge conventional SSD would be a better choice.ā€

I am so far unable to get the NVME speed because the Optipane seems to be blocking it. I could disable Optane but I have not chosen to go down this avenue just yet. I visited the Intel page and the specs were rather disappointing compared to a Samsung NVME SSD I paid only Ā£50 for.

  • H10 Read 2300 MB/s | Write 1300 MB/s (userbench)
  • S980 Read 4484 MB/s | Write 2263 MB/s (Magician)

The memory says 3200mhz, which is more than advertised. I am yet to confirm this is fully used.

For me, the price is above my budget but it is one I can keep an eye on.
