Sigma APO TeleConverter 1.4x EX DG
Sigma APO TeleConverter 1.4x EX DG

I acquired the Sigma TeleConverter in September 2019 and Honestly, I am way behind in discovering these.

When I bought my Tamron 150-600mm Telephoto zoom lens, I noticed there was also a bundle option that came with a 1.4x converter. But I was after a lens and seeing mixed reviews of them I decided to stick to getting just the lens.

However, since finding the online used camera supplier which is owned by Jessops, I have been keen to update and upgrade my equipment.

I upgraded my camera from my Nikon D5300 to the D7200, and very happy that I did.

Then I got another lens, a Tamron PZD 18-300 which has a Piazo drive, but I found it slow to focus and crept a lot. It got sent back as it was possibly faulty, which meant I was still on the hunt for a mid-range lens.

Now and again they run offers. I saw an advert where a 20% off promotion was running, so I went back to their site to continue my search for a lens.

I found a Nikon 55-200mm lens with VR II, not quite the range but of my 18-105mm VR lens or the one I had to send back. But this one had the newer VR II, so I added it to my basket and entered the discount code.

Then I remembered I had been looking for a converter but last time they had sold out of Nikon fit versions. I searched and up came the Sigma for Nikon. It was a good price so I also added that and checked out.

I now have them arrived on Monday having placed the order at the weekend. Both came quality-packed and in their original boxes.

I thought it might work with the shorter lens but it was not compatible, but fitted fine with the mega lens.

600mm lens on DX = x1.5 = 900mm, add the 1.4 converter 900 x 1.4 = 1260 mm (confirmed by Sigma UK)

Exposure
Using the APO Tele Converter EX decreases the effective aperture by one F-stop (with 1.4x Tele Converter) or by two F-stops (with 2x Tele Converter). Regardless of exposure mode, correct exposure can be obtained.
