Meta-owned WhatsApp has announced its plan to roll out a message editing feature, aligning itself with competitors such as Telegram and Discord. Starting today, Users will be able to edit their messages within a 15-minute window after sending them.
In a blog post on Monday, WhatsApp expressed its excitement about providing users with more control over their chats, allowing for corrections of typos or the addition of supplementary information. By long-pressing on a sent message, users can select the “Edit” option from the menu to make modifications within the specified time frame.
The edited message will be tagged as “edited” so that recipients are aware that the content has been changed.
The edit feature is a welcome addition to WhatsApp, which has been criticized for its lack of editing options. The feature will be especially helpful for users who make typos or who want to add more context to a message.
With approximately 2 billion users worldwide, WhatsApp intends to make the feature available to its entire user base in the coming weeks. India, boasting 487 million users, stands as the platform’s largest market.
The edit feature is a valuable tool that can help users communicate more effectively. It is a welcome addition to WhatsApp and other messaging apps.
Here are some additional details about the edit feature:
